Getting From Cancun to Playa del Carmen

From the airport at Cancun (CUN), there are several options for getting to Playa del Carmen. These include taxis (expensive), pre-arranged van (also expensive, but less than a taxi if the van is full), and the ADO bus. Here are instructions for getting to Playa del Carmen from the airport, and ultimately, for getting to the Casa del Mar resort on Cozumel.

• Take the ADO (pronounced in Spanish AHH-DAY-OH) bus to Playa del Carmen:
  • Exit the airport terminal and you will see a lot of people with signs (people’s names or offers for taxi service). Just ignore them and walk toward the right. You will see a Margaritaville stand selling drinks. Don’t buy anything here while waiting for the bus because the prices are outrageously high. Go past the Margaritaville stand and you will see the red ADO stand and someone there to sell you a ticket.
  • The ADO bus stops at the ADO station in Playa del Carmen at 5^th Avenue (Calle Quinta Avenida) and Juarez Avenue (Avenida Benito Juarez). From the bus station, it’s a 4 block walk to the ferry terminal.
• Buy a one-way ticket to Cozumel, board the ferry, and relax on the 30 minute trip.
• Once in Cozumel, exit the ferry terminal and walk to the taxis lined up on the street. Choose the first one available and have the driver take you to the Casa del Mar Dive Resort.
